Manufacturing Opportunities:

Aircraft Assembler

     Requires thorough knowledge of assembly techniques for countersinking, driving and bucking rivets. Airframe assembly experience and familiarity with metal fabrication, electrical systems instrumentation and engine installation preferred. Must be able to read and understand blueprints and engineering drawings.

Aircraft Inspector

     Will inspect assemblies, sheet metal and machined parts using micrometers, gauges and other inspection instruments. Must be able to read and understand blueprints and engineering drawings.

Machinists

     Will operate lathes, grinders, milling machines and drill presses. CNC experience preferred. Must be able to read and understand blueprints and comprehend shop math.

Stock Clerk

     Shipping/receiving experience preferably in a manufacturing environment, basic computer skills essential (Microsoft office), AS400 experience and forklift experience preferred.

Painter

     Must have the aptitude to learn aircraft paint and finishing work. Familiar with prep work (priming, sanding, filling, surfacing ect.), silk screening and finishing experience preferred. Must be able to read and understand blueprints and engineering drawings.

Wood/Plastics Fabricator

     Must have the mechanical aptitude and potential to learn wood, plastic and fiberglass work. Must be able to read and understand blueprints and comprehend shop math.

Metal Parts Fabricator

     Experience in aircraft manufacturing or repair operations preferred. Familiarity with metal fabrication, CNC, lathes, rolls, break press, punch press and drill press a plus. Must be able to read and understand blueprints and engineering drawings.

Professional Opportunities:

Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineer

     Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineers provide technical design assistance and manufacturing engineering support. The position will support the design and analysis of aircraft component parts for the manufacture of small fixed wing aircraft and light helicopters. The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years experience in the design of aerospace or related components and a B.S. degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.

EVMS Financial Analyst/Project Manager

     This position is responsible for the administration of the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) at Schweizer Aircraft Corporation, a subsidiary of Sikorsky. The EVMS Analyst interfaces directly with program managers and control account managers (CAMs) and works together with them to plan, budget and track their various work efforts. Responsibilities include the accumulation of actual labor and material charges for reporting purposes; administration and/or creation of EVMS forms and procedures such as work authorization; maintenance of contract budget base files; maintenance of baseline budgets and schedules; gathering performance information from CAMs; reporting monthly Earned Value metrics and status. In addition to the EVMS responsibilities, the position will include support of the bid proposal team in pricing and scheduling proposal efforts. This support also includes contract management responsibilities including SOW management, creation of terms and conditions, etc.
     The successful candidate must be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of software including Microsoft Project. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree in a related field with 2 – 5 years of relevant experience. An MBA or project management degree is preferred.

Airframe Engineer

     As a member of the proposal team, the candidate will be responsible for understanding and developing the effort for airframe design function in direct relation to various systems and aircraft modifications performed at the MDCC facility. Such work scope will include the effort to design and qualify modifications ensuring integrity of the airframe fuselage, and all other attachments to airframe fuselage, including electrical, controls and dynamic systems attachments. Provide technical guidance to proposal team members on retrofit and modification requirements. Function as the engineering subject matter expert for all proposal related communications.
     Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering required. Minimum of 5 years experience in airframe structural analysis of conventional metallic structures required, with additional composite experience a plus. Knowledge of fatigue concepts/methodology and fracture mechanics principles/methodology is desirable. Have experience with airframe structural testing and instrumentation practices. Experienced with aircraft structural integration, manufacturing, and retrofit processes. Ability to effectively communicate within all organizational levels. Moderate travel required.

Manufacturing Engineer CMM

     As a member of the Methods organization, the Manufacturing Engineer for quality support reviews the inspection planning for manufacturing providing recommendations for the most cost effective method of inspection relative to dimensioning, tolerance, and inspection technique. The position enhances the design and manufacturing process by providing technical expertise in dimensioning philosophies and inspection disciplines. The engineer will perform CMM off-line programming duties in support of manufacturing regarding complex machined components. Provides suggestions for defining the correlation between the manufacturing process and necessary inspection points. Through formal and informal interaction with inspection and manufacturing personnel, establishes standardized procedures for CMM and bench inspection aimed at minimizing non –value added steps in the inspection process. The engineer continually evaluates inspection methods and equipment with an overall focus on the cost of manufacturing for methods planning.
  • The technical inspection resource working with methods personnel for dimensioning & inspection issues.
  • Develop planning for machined and sheet metal details for the Methods Department.
  • Utilizing off-line programming software, create and prove out inspection programs for CMM inspection for both complex machined and formed sheet metal parts and assemblies.
  • Assist in training CMM operators in regard to use and capabilities of CMM equipment.
  • Works with inspection and manufacturing personnel to resolve inspection technique problems.
  • Communicate as necessary with any or all interfacing functions; pertinent dimensions or inspection information as to eliminate current or future projected manufacturing delays.
  • Demonstrate the ability to utilize 2D and 3D design software to extent that it relates to the CMM programming function.
  • Maintain and control all electronic data in accordance with the requirements of SAC PDM system.
  • Assure compliance with AS9100 Quality System Requirements in relation to inspection practices.
  • Follow department processes and procedures for standard work.
  • Understand and implement ACE/Lean principles, practices and support. Abide by company policy.
  • Other duties as directed by supervision.
     A high school diploma with 10-15years of directly related experience in an inspection environment related to sheet metal and machined components fabrication or an AA degree or technical diploma in related field with 3 to 5 years of related experience. Must have a strong working knowledge of computerized coordinate measuring equipment, and related software. Shall have an understanding of manufacturing and process flow and geometric tolerancing. Must be able to read, interpret and utilize complex drawings, computer CAD files both 2D and 3D, and other engineering design data. Must have strong analytical, personal computer, and mathematic skills.

Electrical/Avionics Engineer

     As a member of the proposal team, the candidate will be responsible for understanding and developing the effort for electrical/avionics design function in direct relation to various systems and aircraft modifications performed at the MDCC facility. Such work scope will include the effort to develop hardware specifications, hardware design documentation & schematics, power system design, development testing & performance, electromagnetic interference (EMI) protection design, development & testing to DO-160E specifications. Additionally, the development and logic for wire harnesses and connector interfaces to support all systems. Provide technical guidance to proposal team members on retrofit and modification requirements. Function as the engineering subject matter expert for all proposal related communications. Support airframe proposal engineering as required.
     Bachelor of Science in Electrical / Electronics Engineering. Experience with avionics electronic and avionics standards including DO-160E EMI and power requirements. Experience in designing, building, and testing analog front ends, DSP-based systems, EMI protection systems, DC power supplies, and communication interfaces required. The candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter capable of accomplishing instrumentation procedures. Ability to effectively communicate all levels. Moderate travel required.

Process Engineer

     Maintain Chemical and Special Processes to NADCAP and customer requirements such as heat treat, chemical conversion, paint, and spot weld. Calibration of equipment, ovens, and environmental controls. Maintain and audit all Quality Procedures and Engineering Process Bulletins for compliance to established NADCAP and customer requirements. Applicant should have the ability to evaluate, maintain currency, and develop facility supplier base to AS-9100 Quality requirements. Provide Quality Engineering support for development of policy, procedures, and work instructions.
     The successful candidate will have a B.S. degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering and 3 to 5 years metallurgical and material testing preferred.

Director - Product Flight and Safety

     The Director of Product & Flight Safety reports directly to the General Manager for Schweizer Aircraft Corporation to define and implement an effective aviation safety program that maximized efficiency and meets Corporate and applicable Government requirements. He/she is responsible for management of system safety programs to identify and mitigate potential risk with Schweizer products through-out the product’s life cycle and is also responsible for developing safety requirements for ground and flight operations. Occasional domestic and international travel is required. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Implement United Technologies Corporation Product and Services Policy.
  • Implement Government requirements for Contractor’s Flight and Ground Operations as applicable to Schweizer operations.
  • Implement applicable procedures to comply with Government requirements for managing flight safety critical parts.
  • Implement applicable system safety engineering requirements as defined in SAE ARP 4761 and MIL-STD-882.
  • Implement a process to monitor product experience, conduct root cause investigations, deploy appropriate risk mitigation plans and apply lessons learned.
  • Provide supervision and professional development to staff and effectively interact in a team environment.
  • Conduct periodic site surveys and provide constructive recommendations for continued improvement of flight facilities and operations.
  • Apply scientific and engineering principles, criteria and techniques to identify and track hazards; perform safety analyses, risk assessments, and develop recommendations for safety hazards risk elimination or mitigation.
  • Prepare safety documentation, presentations and formal reports for program management and customers.
  • Assist as an Aircraft Safety Investigator as required.
     Minimum of 10 years experience in helicopter safety, maintenance, engineering or operations. Experience as a helicopter pilot and accident investigator preferred. Experience with SAE ARP 4761 or MIL-STD-882 and knowledgeable of requirements defined in the DCMA Instruction 8210.1. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work with minimum supervision and interface effectively with internal and external customers; proficiency with MS Office/Window applications/databases.
     Bachelor of Science Degree in Aviation Safety or related Engineering field (Aeronautics, Mechanical, Electrical, Reliability, System Engineering

Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer

     Responsibilities include writing test plan, wiring schematics, preparing cost & schedule estimates, supervising and scheduling instrumentation installation, calibrating instrumentation and analyzing data. Instrumentation includes strain gage bridges, accelerometers, thermocouples, pressure transducers and potentiometers. The successful candidate will have a B.S. degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering and 5+ years experience. FAA DER preferred.

Senior Electrical Engineer (Aviation Systems)

     Duties include schematic design, selecting appropriate electrical systems and components, wire sizing, system integration, electrical loads analysis, writing test procedures and performing installation verification ground and flight test. Systems include communication, navigation, power, flight controls, lighting, IR Imagers and other mission related equipment. The successful candidate will have a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and 7+ years experience, FAA DER, Private Pilot License or higher, and general avionics background.

Senior Aerospace Engineer

     Design, integrate, analyze and test air vehicle mechanical systems. Systems include basic airframe, control systems, drive system, payloads, and landing equipment. Design efforts support a wide variety of aircraft including helicopters, fixed wing reconnaissance aircraft, autonomous air vehicles and experimental R&D aircraft. Background in FAA certification to FAR Part 27 and FAR Part 23 is desirable. Current FAA DER preferred. The successful candidate will have a B.S. degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering and 7+ years experience. FAA DER preferred.

Manufacturing Engineer

     Responsible for developing manufacturing methods and providing engineering and technical support to the production operation. Requires a minimum of 5 years similar experience and background in machining and assembly operations. Experience in computer aided design programs is preferred. A BS degree in mechanical, aeronautical, manufacturing or industrial engineering is required.

Buyer

     Responsible for procurement functions related to commodities assigned by the Purchasing Manager. He/She selects appropriate sources based on quotations, capabilities and performance. The Buyer insures commodities are purchased in conformance with engineering and quality requirements, in a timely manner and at the lowest reasonable price.
